At the forefront of any thriving community is an excellent school system, and one of the things we are most proud of is our Lakeland School System. The Lakeland School System (LSS), scores in the top 1% of all schools in the state and has been recognized as an Exemplary School District for each of the past three years it was eligible. GreatSchools also awards LSS a “Perfect 10” rating. Below are some additional accolades our kids have achieved.

LSS currently educates just over 1700 students at two schools, Lakeland Elementary School (K-4), and Lakeland Middle Preparatory School (5-8). The middle school, (LMPS) was just opened in 2017 and recently won Middle School Design of the Year by the Tennessee School Boards Association. Teaching and learning at LMPS occurs in a “digitally converted” environment, with all students receiving a Chromebook laptop. It is also supported with Gifted and Honors programs, state-of-the-art science labs, a “maker space” that allows students to apply concepts to projects in a “hands on” fashion, and a full array of award-winning fine arts programs.
